During the interview process placement and level preference will be discussed.

 

Qualifications of the applicant will determine whether it is Specialized Programs Assitant I or II

 

TITLE: Specialized Programs Assistant I


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma, or equivalent, with training in educational psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
2. History of direct service experience with students considered to present social/emotional/behavioral challenges.
3. Ability to contribute to individual education plan development, monitoring, and revision.
4. Ability to use independent judgment and decision making.
5. Ability to assist with student activities including educational, behavioral intervention, and social skills development components.
6. Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
7. Ability to implement prescribed program behavioral management systems.
8. Ability to work as a member of an educational intervention team and maintain effective working
relationships with other team members, including accepting direction and constructive criticism from lead team staff.
9. Ability to maintain clerical records and filing systems.

 

REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Student Services Administrator


SUPERVISES: None


JOB GOAL: To assist in implementing educational and social/behavioral development interventions for students considered to present significant behavioral/emotional challenges.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supports all program activities within the intervention classroom. Duties may include, but are not limited to assisting with academic instruction, social skills groups, recreational activities, monitoring of student progress, data collection and supervision of recess, lunch and/or other mainstream activities for enrolled students.
2. Implements any necessary accommodations and modifications on student individualized education plans, including positive behavior support plans and plans of independence for students with special needs, as directed.
3. Collects, collates, and charts behavioral and academic data for enrolled students.
4. Completes written reports on enrolled students as requested.
5. Assists in contacts with community agencies, parents, and teachers as requested.
6. Intervenes with behavioral and discipline concerns within the context of program policies.
7. Implements individual and group services to enrolled students as prescribed by Individual Education Plans and as directed by supervisors.

 

NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY: 7.0 HOURS PER DAY

 

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED PER SCHOOL YEAR: 186 DAYS PER YEAR

 

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $21.69 - $30.53 PER HOUR (RANGE 13) 

 

TITLE: Specialized Programs Assistant II


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree with college-level training in educational psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
2. History of direct service experience with students considered to present social/emotional/behavioral challenges.
3. Ability to contribute to individual education plan development, monitoring, and revision.
4. Ability to use independent judgment and decision making.
5. Ability to assist with student activities including educational, behavioral intervention, and social skills development components.
6. Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
7. Ability to implement prescribed program behavioral management systems.
8. Ability to work as a member of an educational intervention team and maintain effective working

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED PER SCHOOL YEAR: 186 DAYS PER YEAR

 

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $22.79 - $32.07 PER HOUR (RANGE 14)
