REPORTS TO: Cheryl Howell, School-Age Programs Coordinator and Laura Poore, OCCE Supervisor

 

JOB  DESCRIPTION: The kids are out of school and it is time for some after school fun! Staff hired to work in the After the Bell Program (ATB) get to engage in with kids (K-5th graders) in a fun after school setting. It is a shared responsibility and expectation that all ATB staff will work together to provide the children attending with a safe, positive and high quality after school care experience. 

 

HOURS: 15-35 Hours per week (Some staff may work until 6:15 each day)  Staff will also have the option to work No School Day and Seasonal Camps (hours will vary).

 

COMPENSATION:  Starting Hourly Range $13.50 - $16.00 D.O.E. *This position does not include health insurance,  benefits, or paid vacation. 

 

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in planning, implementing and/or leading age appropriate after school activities for Kindergarten-5th grade children in a school setting.
  • Assist in the supervision of 30 – 65 children in both large and small group settings (Ratios are 1:15.
  • Actively engage in games, enrichment, arts and craft and recreational activities with the children. 
  • Use positive behavior (PBIS) guidelines and strategies to support and respond to student behaviors.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.     
  • Maintain a clean and organized space at the ATB site; respectful of the school rules and expectations across school settings. 
  • Attend all staff meetings and Inservice Days that are held 2-4 times per year
  • Work No School Day Camps throughout the year as requested

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Experience in working with youth, youth development, camps, childcare, educational instruction or related disciplines.    (Min 1 year working with youth preferred) 
  2. Personal attributes: Ability to cultivate and maintain positive rapport with children, school staff and coworkers.  Possession of a good sense of humor and willingness to work with children of all needs and abilities. Patient & firm, but fair and have a calm approach in responding to challenging situations. 
  3. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Card, CPR/First Aid certificates prior to employment. 
  4. Must be able to work in a fast paced, active and changing environment.
  5. Bilingual applicants desired, but not required. 
  6. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
