Reports to: Rian Hood, Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator
Position Description: The preschool support assistant will help support classrooms of children who are between the ages of 3-5 years old. Preschool assistants must have a minimum of a high school diploma and at least 2 years experience working in the early childhood or child development field. Working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education encouraged and desired. They must be passionate about working with young children, have good communication skills and enjoy collaboration with othe team members. An assistant must be patient and empathetic towards children from diverse social backgrounds and with a wide range of learning abilities. After school care responisbilities include caring for children in a childcare setting after preschool hours.
Wages: Starting at $18.00 - $20.00 per hour DOE (Different shifts available 8-12, 12-5)
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Able to support Lead Teachers
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with all staff and parents
- Maintain clean and safe environment for children
- Supervise up to 10 children in both large and small group settings
- Assist in serving snacks/meals
- Perform various other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator or Lead Teacher
- Ability to be on the floor at the child's level when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and coworkers
- Attend all staff meetings, all professional development and in-service training days
- Ensure that the programs are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and follow Oregon City School District and Oregon City Community Education policies, prodecures and mission.
