Qualifications:

  1. Ability to speak and write fluent Spanish or Russian.
  2. Ability to maintain clerical records and filing systems.
  3. Ability to make some independent judgments with prescribed policies and procedures.
  4. Ability to lead student exercises and activities.
  5. Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
  6. Ability to communicate with appropriate student age group requiring the use of both empathetic and
    disciplinarian approaches.
  7. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff and students.
  8. Reasonable knowledge of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word usage and sentence construction of the English language as necessary to detect and correct basic errors in prepared material.
  9. Reasonable knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  10. Demonstrated aptitude as necessary to perform duties of a tutorial nature as well as basic clerical tasks.
  11. Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with staff and students.

Physical Requirements:  Working closely with students can be both physically and emotionally tiring.  May require exposure to adverse weather conditions and noisy work areas.

In an eight-hour day, employee may:

  1. Stand/Walk 6-8 hours
  2. Drive 0-1 hours
  3. Sit 1-2 hours

 Employee may use hands for repetitive:

  1. Single Grasping
  2. Pushing and Pulling
  3. Fine Manipulation

 Employee may use feet for repetitive movement as in operating foot controls.

Principal or designee and certified teacher responsible for specific assignments.

None

 

JOB GOAL:                          

Performs a variety of tutorial assignments under the direction of a certified teacher.  May function in an instructional setting separate from the teacher without much supervision.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Supervises group practices or activities under the direction but not necessarily in the immediate presence of the teacher.
  1. Deals with behavior and discipline problems; personally resolves minor problems, informs teacher of major problems.
  1. Types correspondence, bulletins, reports, instructional and curriculum material from rough copy or dictation, duplicates materials.
  1. Keeps class attendance and related instructional records; files materials; checks materials in and out.
  1. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for teaching or reinforcing material or skills based on individual student's needs, interests and abilities.
  1. Prepares learning materials as dictated by prescribed education or lesson plans, exercises some judgment in the selection and use of materials within established guidelines.
  1. Instructs students with physical and mental handicaps and learning dis-abilities.
  1. Serves as the primary source of information and assistance to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of a regular teacher.
  1. Performs basic secretarial and clerical tasks associated with the production of materials for instructional programs; types and duplicates materials, files and maintains records.
  1. Performs related duties as directed by the building administrator and certified teacher in charge.

EVALUATION:         

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.

 

NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY: 7.0 HOURS PER DAY

 

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED PER SCHOOL YEAR: 186 DAYS PER YEAR

 

RATE OF PAY: $19.30 - $27.16 PER HOUR (RANGE 10)

 

POSITION START DATE: 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
