Position Summary

Support students who are at-risk for not completing a diploma program. Connect students to schools and programs to support their progress toward graduation.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  2. Work directly with students and families in various settings to link them with eligible District, community, and governmental resources/programs
  3. Communicate with students who have dropped out to re-engage them with our schools and programs and aid in the transition
  4. Provide follow-up support and encourage both student and parent engagement in school activities
  5. Consult with staff to promote a healthy school culture 
  6. Promote and facilitate parent involvement in school-based volunteer opportunities
  7. Maintain accurate files related to supports provided to assigned students or programs
  8. Retrieve, prepare, and report data, as requested
  9. Assist with the implementation of approved programs that support student progress towards completing a high school diploma or equivalent
  10. Assist with the identification of students in need of additional support and assessing student academic needs
  11. Develop student academic and vocational plans and monitor progress towards completion
  12. Mentor students as assigned
  13. May perform duties during a home visit
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  1. Ability to exercise independent judgment while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures and perform the position's essential functions with minimal supervision.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and the general public.
  3. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  4. Ability to follow district policies and procedures at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bilingual preferred but not required
  2. Successful completion of criminal history records check, as required by law. 
  3. High school diploma or its equivalent
  4. Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
  5. Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
  6. Two years of experience in a post-secondary educational program
  7. Experience with engaging students with school activities and programs
  8. Develop student academic and vocational plans and monitor progress towards completion
  9. Mentor students as assigned
  10. May perform duties during a home visit

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Participate in required meetings and trainings related to the position
  2. Maintain required licenses/certifications and successfully complete required trainings for the position
  3. Utilize the District’s electronic systems and applications related to the position
  4. Dress in a professional and appropriate manner for the assignment and work setting
  5. Demonstrate professionalism when working and communicating verbally and nonverbally with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds 
  6. Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment
  7. If employee is bilingual they may be required to interpret, translate documents, and/or communicate orally in the second language

 

NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY: 8.0 HOURS PER DAY

 

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED PER SCHOOL YEAR: 215 DAYS PER YEAR

 

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $22.34 - $31.45 PER HOUR (RANGE 13)
